The SmartThings App lets you control thousands of devices from different brands. The app lets you dim the lights, increase the thermostat or monitor up six cameras of different brands. Just look for the "Works with SmartThings" label on the packaging of your devices.

Samsung had initially planned to integrate Amazon's Alexa virtual assistant into the Family Hub. It would be like having an Echo in your kitchen. This feature was not available in the CES 2017 program, but will be available via a software update in July. The Family Hub will now be capable of using voice commands to understand the weather and set reminders, organize calendars and to-do lists, make shopping lists and order groceries online via Instacart or Groceries by MasterCard.
